Journey Construction Group partnered with Loutit District Library to create the Loutit Library Makerspace in Grand Haven, Michigan. The renovation transformed existing library space into a modern hub for creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning, featuring technology-driven maker tools, dedicated art spaces, and flexible environments designed to serve the community for years to come.
Loutit District Library envisioned a space where creativity, technology, and learning could come together to better serve the Grand Haven community. To support that vision, Journey Construction Group partnered with the library team to renovate existing space and create the Loutit Library Makerspace and Art Studio, expanding opportunities for hands-on learning, artistic expression, and community engagement.
The project introduced two unique environments designed to inspire creativity across all ages and skill levels. The Loutit Library Makerspace features advanced tools and equipment including 3D printers, laser engraving technology, sewing machines, and digital media resources that allow users to explore new technologies and bring ideas to life. Adjacent to the Makerspace, the Art Studio provides a dedicated setting for painting, crafting, workshops, and other creative activities that encourage collaboration and artistic exploration.
Constructing the new spaces within an active public library required thoughtful planning and coordination to minimize disruptions while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for patrons. Journey Construction Group worked closely with library leadership and project stakeholders throughout the renovation process to deliver high-quality spaces that support both current programming needs and future growth.
