Calvin Theological Seminary

Calvin Theological Seminary, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a Reformed seminary dedicated to providing a holistic education that supports the spiritual, academic, and vocational formation of its students. Journey Construction Group partnered with Calvin Theological Seminary and the Integrated Architecture team early in the process to provide preliminary cost modeling and scheduling services. By assisting with cost evaluation during the programming, schematic, and design development phases, our team helped align the project scope with the seminary’s goals and budget. Following the design phase, Journey Construction Group continued its involvement as Owner’s Representative throughout construction. The project included significant renovations across the building’s entire floor plate, highlighted by a new main entrance designed to create a bright, open, and welcoming space for students, faculty, and visitors.

As Owner’s Representative, Journey Construction Group served as Calvin Theological Seminary’s trusted advocate throughout the project, ensuring their goals, budget, and schedule remained aligned from planning through construction. Our team coordinated closely with the design and construction teams, providing oversight on costs, constructibility, scheduling, and decision-making at every stage. By managing communication between stakeholders and proactively addressing challenges, we helped the seminary navigate a complex renovation while maintaining project momentum. This level of oversight allowed Calvin Theological Seminary to stay focused on their mission and campus community while having confidence that the project was being executed efficiently and in their best interest.
